For years my father has asked people a question.  He’ll say….. “do you know how the gas companies know they have corrosion in their underground pipes?  It’s a real technical process that they go through to identify where they have corrosion”.  The person leans in, thinking they’re going to learn something useful, perhaps an opportunity and my father says “detonation,  they know they have corrosion when it explodes”.
